RE: Boon-docking thisSummer Camping Photos....

We usually boondock south of Red Feather at Swamp Lady. Last week we went to Gould. Here are some pictures. Our site. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/Gouldcamp.jpg Morning visitors. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/picture0004.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/picture0005.jpg

RE: Shared water toys etiquette?

I'm not a boat owner, but I have 3 ATVs. When I bring them I do not expect any money for fuel. I know there is no comparison in the amount of fuel an ATV uses compaired to a boat. I use the rule my dad taught me. If they offer once, you say no. If they offer a second time, say yes. If they don't offer at all, all I hope is that they had fun. My older brother had ATVs before I did (he also had jet skies). He always let someone ride one when he went out. I now know why, it is a good feeling that someone can enjoy your toys as much as you do.

RE: What programer would you get???

With a programmer if you drive decent and not hot rod it you should be ok. My brother has a 2000 Dodge with an older Edge product and has had no problems in the 115,000 miles except lift pump and injector pump, both replaced under warranty even though he had over 100,000 mile on them at the time of failure (prone to failure even without programmer). His tranny is still going strong even though he pulls a 30ft 5er with a pontoon boat over Berthoud Pass several times a year. I installed an Edge Evolution last spring on my D-Max. I run on level 1 (mainly bought to correct tire size). It comes with pyrometer for EGT and display to keep track of all the things you may want to monitor.

RE: What is Piston Slap?

I sold my 2001 5.3 2 years ago with 115,000 miles on it with no noise (bought a truck that rattles all the time :B). My brother's 2000 5.3 knocked at startup almost since new. When he passed away the truck had 246,000 miles and still ran great using very little oil and still "slapping".

RE: Proper LPG Start Up - 2 Questions

I have heard that if you have one of those infrared thermometers to point at the tank you can tell the level. This only works on a tank that is being used at the time as the temp differential occurs as the liquid turns to gas.

RE: Prevent tanks from freezing while dry camping

I put heat tape on my drain tubes. First I spiraled the tape around the pipes. I then wrapped them with aluminum foil following that with foam tape. I run my generator when it gets around 25deg to keep things from freezing. I have camped (hunting in the Rockies in October) in the teens and even down to 6deg one night without any problems.

RE: Help with Honda EU2000i problem

Mine was doing something like yours. With the carb apart, look into the engine side of the carb. On the right side of the throat you will see 3 small holes. Get some spray carb cleaner in them. Not saying that is the same problem you have, but it worked for me.

RE: Diesel chips for Duramax

I have the Edge Evoution. I bought it to calibrate the spedo after putting on larger tires. With the larger tires I lost about 2 mpg. after instaling the Edge, I got the miage back. When these tires wear out, I'm going back to stock. I run it on level 1. It comes with a pyro to watch exhaust temps.

RE: Rockin' for LOVE

Just be sure to look out the windows before you check if the stabilizers are working. You wouldn't want to go outside and find your 80 year old father in law sitting in his truck for the past 2 hours waiting for you to get out of bed :o (Waiting for his biscuits and gravy)

RE: trailers a rockin' ???

Sounds like you need reas stabilizers. I made my own. We camped last weekend and had a strong side wind. No movement at all. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-9/409970/rear4.JPG http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-9/409970/rear5.JPG It may look iike the rear stabilizers are welded to the frame, but they are not. The frame just slides into the slot on top of the legs. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-9/409970/rear3.JPG Here is my homemade front stabilizer. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-9/409970/bp1.JPG http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-9/409970/bp2.JPG http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-9/409970/bp3.JPG I also made a wheel chock out of a sissor jack. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-9/409970/chocks2.JPG It takes 10 to 15 min to get everything set up, but well worth the time.

RE: Update on my Pergo floor after 1st outing

I used the snap together style. It went together fairly easy.

Update on my Pergo floor after 1st outing

If you remember I replaced my carpeting with Pergo Pergo Floor Install http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/DSC02020.jpg The slide did rub on the new floor. I didn't have any scratches but I have devised a way to make sure I don't. I glued shelf liner to the back of some left over Pergo. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/DSC02056.jpg When the slide starts to come in it is easy to lift the section to clear the strips I put down on the floor. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/DSC02053.jpg I lay 4 of them out and with the shelf liner, they don't move. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/DSC02054.jpg

RE: Family traditions while camping

We have my chili one night. Marshmallow golf (Marshmallows instead of a golf ball. Circle of string instead of a hole). Blazzing Saddles. If someone new at the camp, I have a board with 2 pieces of reflective tape to look like eyes when the flashlight is shined on it. I set it in the trees about 50 yards from camp. Scared the heck out of my 21 year old daughter. Gotta have biscuits and gravy.

RE: My new project (floor replacement)

Well, I'm about done. I still have to rebuild the steps, but the floor is done. I did find that while moving in and out the floor must be clean because it rides very close to the floor and any stones would be a problem. To address the above post, my slide rides about 1/2 inch off the floor. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/camper12.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/camper8.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/camper9.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/camper2.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/camper10.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/floor1.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/camper11.jpg Happy so far with the change. Wife says it makes it look a little more up-scale. I am trying to decide if I should change the 2 steps into 1 so i gain the floor space at the entry. Any thoughts?

Here is the transition from the laminate to the slide. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x145/wkayl/camper7.jpg

RE: My new project (floor replacement)

To answer a few questions. First, it is the floating floor Pergo laminate. No securing to the foor at all. Second, it is actually lower than the carpeting so the slide won't touch the flooring. Third, I will take a close up picture of where I cut the main floor carpeting to start the laminate flooring. I left the carpet under the area of the slide.

RE: My new project (floor replacement)

The area is 14'x7'. This includes where the fridge and stove are. Materials are at about $380.
